California’s Capitol is home to the River City Chapter of the CSBA. It’s members are drawn from Sacramento and many of its outlying areas. There are members from Elk Grove, Wilton, Yuba City, Marysville and Woodland. Every year thousands of people are exposed to the "save the fisheries" philosophy of the California Striped Bass Association through our various outreach and information programs.

The proceeds from donations and fundraisers help us support the statewide effort to increase the Striped Bass fishery and to promote the sport of fishing in general.

17 years ago our club helped Gary Voet, then a sportswriter for the Sacramento Bee, stage the 1st "Catch a Smile Day". Since then we have played a major role in this annual event. We have contributed time and money to the effort of bringing the excitement of fishing to groups of handicapped children. We help these children experience for themselves the thrill of landing a big fish. Also each year a few families are chosen to spend a weekend with their handicapped child at a fishing resort in order to enjoy the fishing experience in a more natural setting.

The chapter’s monthly meeting and newsletter keep our members informed on what’s happening locally and from the State Board. The chapter’s derbies provide another opportunity for the members to socialize and display the techniques they learned at the meetings.

For those of you, who are interested in learning more about all kinds of fishing in the Sacramento River area, come join us for an evening of information and fun. Our club meets the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Buggy Whip Restaurant 2737 Fulton Ave Sacramento, CA 95821-5128, (916) 486-1416. Dinner starts when you get there. Our meetings include: a speaker on some aspect of fishing or boating; delicious meals and drinks provided by the restaurant; fishing reports by members (AKA - lies); planning for our derbies and group fishing trips and, of course, good fellowship and fun. There is no charge for attending the meetings and all guests are welcome.
