It all started with a phone call between Joe Peterson and Paul Engle – Isleton needs a fishing club. Thus, Joe Peterson, Paul Engle, Barry and Diana Canevaro and Richard Rogers formed the Isleton-Delta Chapter of the California Striped Bass Association in February of 2006 in Isleton California.
Our chapter is located on the Sacramento River in the middle of the best striper fishing available on the West Coast. We also can boast of having more out of town members than locals. We have members not only from all over California, but also as far away as Nevada.

We hold meetings on the second Wednesday of every month. At each meeting we have a guest speaker, a raffle and our famous "fish stories" by each member on: "Have you caught any fish this month?" Only the ‘truth’ is spoken here!!! To round off the year, we host a dinner dance where we enjoy a great evening of live music, dance and socializing.
We sponsor activities that include a High School Scholarship Program, Kid’s Fishing Derby, Catch and Release Striper Derbies for members and guests and also a yearly Leopard Shark and Salmon Derby. We participate in the State Board Picnic, the State Inter-chapter Fishing Derby, and the State Board Fund Raising Dinner. Our Free Fishing Seminar, sponsored by Hap’s Bait Shop and Fish Hooker’s Sport Fishing and co-sponsored by us, is held in October at Hap’s Bait Shop in Rio Vista. It is our club’s main fund raising event for the year. Our Seminar speakers are usually commercial fishing guides, who when prompted, will often reveal their secret fishing techniques for catching fish indigenous to the delta river system.

Our monthly newsletter keeps our members informed on what’s happening not only locally but also on the C.S.B.A State Board level.

Through all these activities, functions and seminars there is but one truth that links us together, we are fishermen and fisherwomen who care for the environment and the future of our fisheries. If you like (love) fishing and are concerned about our fisheries, come join us. We’ll try to give you a great big, warm, welcome and more!
